Our aims and objectives are translated into the following
main activities:
•
Run workshops with the project partners and target audience
– Generation Homes workshops are organised in two overlapping
formats:
1. Design and development workshops for private low-carbon technology
and service providers, where specific products and services are
discussed in order to come up with integrated solutions for their
application is a retrofit context. Technical aspects of supply and
installation are considered alongside smart financial mechanisms
that improve cost-effectiveness (e.g. volume purchasing, low-carbon
loans and labour efficiency) and help grow the market.
2. Project development workshops for property managing organisations
(such as Housing Associations) which are familiarised with the Generation
Homes approach and opportunities. Participants are also guided through
the process of identifying and putting forward suitable GH demonstration
schemes (usually tied in with planned refurbishment programmes).

•
Develop GH demonstration projects – the Generation
Homes partners provide assistance to property managing organisations
with developing refurbishment project that aim to achieve more than
60% carbon emission savings. Typically, this is a achieved by upgrading
scheduled refurbishment to the Generation Homes standard where a
comprehensive range of energy-saving measures are applied to the
property.
•
Facilitate financing of GH refurbishment schemes –
a range of financial mechanisms are available to projects aspiring
to go beyond 60% carbon reductions and Generation Homes helps to
access funding sources (such as grants and subsidies), as well as
reduces the overall costs through smart management of the supply
chain, such as employing economies of scale and mix and match principles.
